$10 shovel update

As you know i pulled the motor for look.So after removing topend and then splitting the cases.The good news is that the previous owner stock it full of great s&s parts.First thing i noticed is the heavy spring collars.Then the s&s pistons and cylinders which miked out to 3 5/8 bore which was good that the bores still had the cross hatch showing.Leading down to the s&s 495 cam which also looked in good shape.So i figuered i'm this far and the cases have already been polished but needed to be redone i figured what the hell and split the cases.To which revealed the s&s 4 1/2 stroker wheels with heavy duty rods.Which brings me to the best part after doing the math i now the proud owner of a 93'' stroker.Needless to say all of this just saved me about 2500.00 bucks.Hey not like i was bumming it was supposed to be 74''.Hell i'm just happy to finally owning a shovel.I know most people dream of pans,knuckles but for me it was always the untrustworthy shovelhead.

This was done the shop to check timing.The bike is 90% original still has the dealers sticker on the oil tank from where it was sold new.the hack is a repop and the paint has been redone with factory graphics and color.All an all pretty sweet unit.

project 10 dollar shovel

So i have begun working on the shovel this weekend.Started by stripping it down and looking over what needs to be addresed.First removed nacelle and found both front fork tubes were loose for some time.The swing arm bearings are shot and it needs totally rewired.Since i'm gonna redo the entire bike into something i'll enjoy and the fact this bike has been sitting for at least ten years non eof this suprises me.So i figured the first place to strat was the motor.Saturday i went to the shop and pulled it.As i was doing this i found that the inner primary bearing was on the verge of exploding so i'm pretty happy i did'nt try to take for a ride before this.Starting monday i'm concentrating on tearing down the top end to check everything out and refresh the mill.here's some pics more to come at end of the week.

IF you think about this is true.An before you get your balls in a twist.Riding ten miles to the bar sitting for hours burning the whole day or nite is not fucking riding,its fucking drinking!This doesn't mean i have'nt done it,it just means i'm through with it.Not drinking or riding just both together at the same time.

rhere's some what we saw at lowbrows holeshot.for those of you who did not make it.this was the best time i probly had in a while.hears the run down,lowbrow customs puts ths on at the western reserve raceway club grounds in salem oh. you can't bet it entry fee is free for everything amatuer and pro flat track racing,food,beer while it lasted and camping.they had the burning harlots play at nite,showed b rated biker movies and had a chopper/street bike race with cash prize for the winner which was the guy on the gold flhr.this guy was killin.tyler and theguys at lowbrow are stand up guys.one to throw this kkick ass party and just because there very down to earth.the amount of cool chops of every make were represented.me and the crew had a great time even though on the late nite ride back to pa.keith's saddle bags were throwing their contents at me the whole way.next year we are definitly going and probly going to camp this time.did i mention there was a barber giving haircuts for a donation.you just coud not get any better

Ok,

I figured out a couple things this week.One i suck at getting pics posted on this blog.That i will try to fix.Two, what the fuck is up with ocupy wall street hippie shit? Hey every person is pissed off about the corprate greed and the rich gettting richer! But is that the real reason these people are doing this? I'm not sure they even know.Every time i hear of someone getting interveiwed who are showing what they call solidarity they never have a solid answer of what there protesting for.I'll admit i don't watch the news on a daily bases so i'm not sure what is all about.But enough about that shit.What about this retail push for christmas to start months berfore December or even halloween.Hell i was in Wal-mart in the first week of October and they had Christmas trees and decorations up already!Its not even snowing yet an i'm tried of the holidays already.At work were even fully decorated!No wonder i love the grinch so much.I would love to steal christmas for one season just to get the retail greed out of it and give people a chance to remember what it's all about.You know family,friends and the pursuit of a good day to get a ride in.Speaking of motorsickles considering this is why we started this thing any how.the 77 shovel i picked up has gotten a few swap meet trinkets.Got a 2 into 1 head,turn signal relocation brackets an spring seat brackets.So far i haven't spent more than ten bucks for each piece hence the name from here on out will be.Wait for it the TEN DOLLAR RAT.Hey i know i will have more than ten dollars in it but like Johnny Cash sang i got it one piece at a time.So as this winter progresses me and the boys will have more down time to post pics and vids also maybe some expolits.Speaking of that hears some shit.One of which is seeing Nashville pussy,The super suckers and The rustbelt homewreckers last weekend at the Altar bar in the burgh.
